Amazing Spider-Man #601 - Turkish Edition Virgin Cover J. Scott Campbell Signed (July 2024)

ASM #601 originally released 8/5/09. The J. Scott Campbell cover quickly became one of the most controversial images of the year throughout the comic book industry. Many Spidey fans felt Mary Jane Watson was being presented in an over-sexualized way. By today's standards this pose would be considered mild. It's one of those covers that is open to interpretation. Was it a normal morning for Peter and MJ? Did they have an argument minutes earlier? Does she know Spider-Man is outside her window?
Until the foreign (Mexican and Turkish) reprints in 2024 there were no virgin cover variants available. For whatever reason, I can't overlook the text and massive bar code on the cover of the original. So, I decided to add the Turkish signed variant to my collection instead! In my opinion, this is what ASM #601 should have looked like. Pictured right is the original cover from 2009.

This is the true first issue of MMPR. Hamilton Comics published the 10 issue series through September 1995. After the original storyline ended the license was transferred to Marvel Comics. That's why you'll see two different MMPR #1 that are very close in age when searching online. The differences can easily be overlooked for those not familiar with Power Rangers.
Adding to the confusion; towards the end of the initial series, MMPR Saga was being published and intended to be six issues but only three were produced due to the upcoming license transfer. Many people mistakenly reference Marvel's version as the first issue. Technically; it is the first issue―for Marvel. But the Hamilton Comics #1 version has real collectible value and is the one to get!

My understanding is this item was a promotional book. #NN―No Number was assigned by the publisher. It was already slabbed by PGX (9.8) when I bought it. The signature was witnessed in person in 2016. I did not attempt to crack open the slab. Instead, I submitted "as-is" to CGC's Crossover service. I was not expecting a big drop with the grading but I think they made the right call. In this situation, I'd rather have a verified signature with lower grade than risk ruining the signature considering the unique nature of this piece. At the time of posting; this is the only CGC signature verified and highest rated copy available. This is a good example of buying the book―not the grade!

Created exclusively for MegaCon Orlando 2025, this issue features an all-new virgin cover by acclaimed Italian artist Gabriele Dell'Otto, enhanced with striking gold foil treatment. The book contains the standard interior storyline from the original non-foil version. While the story remains identical to the regular edition, the exclusive cover and limited production make this version highly collectible.
Batman #423 - Spectral Comics Special Edition B Todd McFarlane Signed (Aug. 2022)

Batman #423 is widely regarded as one of the defining Batman images of the Copper Age. This is a modern exclusive variant release celebrating one of the most iconic Batman covers ever created by Todd McFarlane. The story is told through the eyes of three Gotham City police officers who recount very different encounters with the Dark Knight.
Batman's flowing cape dominates the composition, wrapping protectively around a young woman beneath a full moon as bats scatter across a vivid red sky. The dramatic perspective and sweeping cape would become one of McFarlane's signature visual trademarks. Signed in person by the cover artist on 12/6/22. Pictured right is the Newsstand version of the original 1988 cover.
Lilo & Stitch #1 - Artist Exclusive Virgin Cover - Mike Mayhew Signed with COA (2024)

The is a limited artist-exclusive edition of the debut issue of Dynamite Entertainment's first ongoing Lilo & Stitch comic series which released in January 2024. The Trade Dress Edition was limited to 1,000 copies worldwide, with copies available directly through Mike Mayhew Studio. Many were also offered signed by Mike Mayhew and included a Certificate of Authenticity (COA), making them particularly desirable among collectors. Mike Mayhew Studio offered the Virgin Edition separately and in bundle sets with the Trade Dress Edition. Although exact numbers weren't publicly released. I think it's safe to assume this virgin variant was most likely around 500 copies printed.
Amazing Spider-Man #35 - Ultimate Comics Exclusive B&W Virgin Sketch Cover - Signed David Finch (Dec. 2023)

The Ultimate Comics Exclusive David Finch Sketch Cover was limited to 1,000 copies, making it one of the scarcer retailer-exclusive variants for Amazing Spider-Man #35. Signed editions are significantly less common. This copy was signed in person by David Finch in October 2024. It's one of my favorite Spidey poses. Since the CGC photos don't do it justice, pictured right is a hi-resolution image.
Moon Knight #1 - Turkish Edition/Paralel Evren "Glow-In-The-Dark" Variant - Signed Skottie Young (Aug. 2023)

This retailer exclusive (limited to 300 copies) was produced for one of Turkey's largest comic book shops―Paralel Evren. Translated to English, "Parallel Universe." The comic reprints the acclaimed first issue of the 2014 Moon Knight series featuring the same cover. Disregarding the Marvel and Marmara Cizgi cover logos, this is considered a virgin variant. The non-glowing trade dress version has a barcode at the top right corner of the cover. Signed in person by cover artist, Skottie Young, in March 2025. Pictured right shows the 2014 Trade Dress version and my "Glow-In-The-Dark" cover in action!
Batman - One Bad Day: Penguin #1 - 1:25 Retailer Incentive Variant - Signed Dan Mora (Dec. 2022)

This is a premium retailer incentive edition of DC Comics' prestige-format one-shot that explores one of the darkest and most compelling stories centered on Oswald Cobblepot, the Penguin. This copy was signed in person by cover artist, Dan Mora, in October 2023. I really like the scene layout and Mora's clean signature location. This displays so nicely on my slab wall. At the time of this posting, there are only 2 CGC verified signed copies available. This is one of them!
Legendary: Red Sonja #v2 #1 - Retailer Exclusive Virgin Variant Cover Signed by Tyler Kirkham (2018)

This Tyler Kirkham retailer exclusive white virgin variant is limited to 250 copies and sold through KRS Comics. It was created for the launch of the five-issue steampunk miniseries from Dynamite Entertainment. It is separate from the regular Joe Benitez covers and was produced in a much smaller print run. Written by Marc Andreyko, the debut issue follows Sonja as she returns to the sprawling Big City to prevent a brewing conflict between rival factions while in an alternate Victorian-inspired world.
Since this item was graded before CGC started offering the option to add photos (July '23) for comics. Here's a hi-resolution image of the book's unsigned cover. This is such a cool pose I couldn't let it get away!
Witchblade #17 - Signed by Michael Turner (Sept. 1997)

Witchblade #17 is not a key issue but there is one major collectible aspect revolving around this book. At the time of this post; it's the only signature verified/CGC graded copy in the world. I'd assume there are others but I still can't find anything comparable online. I mentioned the significance regarding this book in extensive detail from my Michael Turner artist blog page. If I had to narrow it down to a single comic book that ultimately inspired the creation of Blue Wolf Comics―this would be it! I still can't believe I have this in my collection and don't plan on selling any time soon.
